itel inote it1502 is a mid-range smartphone with decent specs. We,ve played with it for few days and the experience has been great. Here’s what we think.

DESIGN

Itel inote it1502 has a sleek design with 8.45mm thick and has a flash of metal at both sides of the phone. The body is a combination of both plastic and a metal. The rear cover is made up of plastic with rough texture design which is a bit difficult to pull out. The phone comes with the normal SIM slots which can be found inside the phone.

The MicroUSB port and 3.5mm headset jack are found at the top of the phone, the power button and volume buttons are on the same position at the left side of the phone making it a little difficult to screenshot. There is also a microphone port at the bottem of the phone.

DISPLAY

The itel it1502 has a 5-inch screen display with IPS technology and a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels – not quite disappointing for a mid-range smartphone like this one. It has a nice and simple User Interface(UI).

CAMERA

The camera is undoubtedly the selling point of this smartphone. Both front and rear camera has 8MP each which superb for a mid-range phone. The rear camera is position at the middle top of the phone with flash directly below it.

Furthermore, the rear camera has the usual features such as panoramic, HDR, auto-focus, clip arts, etc. And if you love taking a lot of selfies, you also won’t be disappointed by the wide angle 8 mega pixel front facing camera. Comparing itel it1502 8-mega pixels rear camera with Tecno M7 8-Mega pixels, I discovered it1502 camera is dull while Tecno M7 is very sharp and displays colors better – One point you need to know about smartphones is that the camera pixel is not the only factor that determines the quality of pictures.

MULTIMEDIA

Checking out the Music Player, I would say am not surprised to see the normal default player – no special feature(s). The speaker was loud and sound quality was okay.

Moving to the Gallery, I was surprised to see a trash option ; more like a recycle bin. The trash has similar functions as that of the recycle bin in a computer. It temporarily stores any picture(s) and video(s) deleted from the gallery. There is also an option to permanently delete or restore back your deleted media files.

Launching to the Radio, it automatically searched for channels and gave an option to either Cancel or Save the channels found. Other features included are FM recording, manual and automatic channel search, and storing favorite channels.

PROCESSOR AND MEMORY

The itel inote 1502 is powered by Quad-core ARMv7 processor running at 1GHz with 1GB RAM to handle multitasking and deliver decent performance. It comes with 8GB internal memory and microSD card slot which supports up to 32GB.

INTERNET AND CONNECTIVITY

It supports both 2G GSM and 3G WCDMA. Unfortunately, only SIM 1 has both 2G and 3G function while SIM 2 supports only 2G. Other connectiviy includes A-GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Hotspot and MicroUSB 2.0.

BATTERY AND OTHERS

It has a removable battery with 2100mAh capacity. I was able to get 6hours of heavy useage which is quite okay.

Itel inote 1502 comes with other features such as inote flashlight, touchpal keyword, cool file manager, simple phone dialer, etc.

CONCLUSION

Itel has been in the Nigeria market for quite some time now, slowly infiltrating the space with its line of entry to mid-range phones. Considering the price range, the itel 1502 is a decent midrange smartphone.
