HTC announces its 2016 flagship, the HTC 10, see full specs and pricing

HTC just announced their much hyped flagship of the year, the HTC 10. This device has being touted as a an entertainment centered device, with unmatched camera’s and sound system to show for it.

As you would soon see, HTC 10’s specs are high end; more of an upgrade/evolution rather than a revolution. That said, let’s take a look at the specs of the HTC 10, shall we?

HTC 10 comes with HTC’s trademark aluminium design, the devices design borrows a leaf in design from HTC’s one A9 and one M8. Sporting an aluminum unibody, with chamfered edges, the HTC 10 (also dubbed the 10) from the look of things will offer an appealing design and a comfortable grip.

Past the outward the design, the 10 carries a 5.2 inch quad HD super LCD display that is strengthened by a corning Gorilla glass 4, and has curved edges that seamlessly fuses the device body with the screen. The screen is also equipped with HTC sense UI.

Beneath this device, you will find a very capable Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 820 chipset clubbed with Adreno 530 GPU processor. Added to these, is 4GB RAM, 32GB internal storage that is expandable via Micro SD card. Powering the HTC 10 is a non-removable 3,000mAh battery, which HTC says can serve for two days given the devices hardware and software optimizations. The battery also has a reversible connector and a quick charge 3.0 capability that is said to be able to charge from 0% – 83% in 30 mins.

For connectivity, HTC 10 comes with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA,
hotspot, GSM/HSPA/LTE, and Bluetooth support. The device has a nano SIM slot.

The HTC 10 will come with Android 6.0 with some customization by HTC.

The focus points prior to the 10’s announcement were the camera and sound system. From the specs of the camera and sound system HTC seems to have done well in these two areas. The HTC 10 sports a 12MP with f/1.9, 26mm, OIS, laser autofocus, dual-LED (dual tone) flash. The camera is equipped with Geo-equipped, touch focus, face/smile detection, HDR, and panorama functions. The front camera on the other hand is a 5MP camera with optical stabilization and is capable of recording videos at 1080p; quite impressive, ain’t it?

HTC 10 comes equipped with a high resolution audio speaker, that can upscale audio to 24-bit quality. 10 comes with Hi-Res-certified earphones and HTC has partnered with JBL to produce a noise-cancelling set of headphones that is powered by the phone’s USB-C port. Another unique feature of the 10 is the speakers ability to be modified to suit your ears and more impressively it is able to wirelessly play audio through AirPlay-certified speakers, which makes it the first Android phone to do so out of the box.

All these spec goodness doesn’t come cheap as you would suspect, the device carries a $699 price tag, which well over N150,000 given the current exchange rate. It will be available in Silver, Black, Red (Japan only) and Gold colours.
