The long awaited flagship was unveiled today with much fanfare. Samsung Galaxy Note 8 debuted with a 6.3-inch infinity display with near bezeless sides. As is customary, the Note 8 arrived with a stylus pen with a much improved functionality. Users can utilise the Note 8’s large screen for a great degree of writing functions such as sending written text to another person – text will be delivered as GIF.

Away from the screen and stylus, the device sports a metal frame sealed to be impervious to water. Both the device and stylus pen have IP68 water resistance certification. To run processes, Galaxy Note 8 is equipped with 6GB RAM and a 10nm chipset with an octa-core processor paired with EXYNOS 8895 or Snapdragon 835, depending on the variant.

The novelty feature of the Galaxy Note 8 is it’s camera setup. The device hosts dual 12MP camera sensors on the back, a first by Samsung. The first sensor lies behind an F1/7 regular lens and the other behind an F1/2.4 telephoto lens. Both cameras have optical image stabilisation, which is also a first among phones with dual camera’s. Galaxy Note 8’s rear camera is capable of shooting live focus that allow modification of background blur before capturing a scene or after the scene has been captured.

The phone runs Android 7.1 Nougat tweaked with Samsung’s proprietary features. The Bixby is among these features and it’s presence underscores Samsung’s commitment to making the digital assistance a main player in its services.

Other interesting features of the flagship include a fingerprint scanner, Cat. 16 LTE and Wi-Fi 802.11ac MIMO support. All these features are powered by a decent 3,300mAh battery with fast charging capability. The battery can be charged with a wireless charger or a USB Type-C cord. Galaxy Note 8 comes in Orchid Gray, Midnight Black, Maple Gold, and Deepsea blue colour options.

The device will be available for preorder by tomorrow and actual sales will begin on September 15. The cost of the device depends on the variant, however, the benchmark price is $930 (well over 250,000).
