Amazon, a popular electronic commerce and cloud computing company, will announce and launch a successor to their largely successful Echo, in no distant time, according to Wall Street  Journal.

The soon to be released product is codenamed “Fox”, it will be markedly different from its predecessor. The fox is said to be a smaller, cheaper version of the Voice activated Echo. There is no information on the price of this upcoming device, but Wall Street Journal reports that “people familiar with the plans” have said that it’s intended to be roughly the size of a beer can, rechargeable, and less expensive than its forerunner.

Fox will also come with energy saving features, unlike its predecessor. To save battery life, the Fox would require a button to be pressed before it starts listening.

Amazon and Flextronics International Ltd., the manufacturer slated to produce the Fox, have not made any official statement on the device’s development.

The Seattle, Washington based e-commerce and cloud computing site, has enjoyed an unexpected sales and popularity of the Echo. Amazon is trying to push the envelope on the value their external audio sets can provide, with its anticipated release.

Amazon Echo can be found on Online shopping malls, here in Nigeria. Malls such as; Konga.
