Specifications and pricing of the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL

Google's flagship devices come with just enough to make you love them

Google launched their much anticipated flagship devices, the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, earlier this month. Both devices are premium devices in every way but the Pixel 2 XL offers a little more than its sibling. Let’s take a look at their specs, shall we?

Starting off with Google 2, the device is equipped with a 5″ AMOLED screen with 1080p resolution. The phones bezel feels quite large. Although, they do house front-facing stereo speakers.

The screen also comes with a feature that detects pressure on its sides and can trigger select actions based on the detected pressure. Personally, I feel it is very amazing and useful. Though it isn’t a new feature. The HTC U11 has it, so its more like borrowed.

Under the hood, the phone sports a Snapdragon 835 processor clubbed with 4GB of RAM and 64GB expandable storage. It sports the same camera specs as the Pixel 2 XL.

The device is available in the following colour options; Kindla Blue, Just Black and Clearly White.

Pixel 2 will launch on October 17 at a starting price tag of $650 / €800 / £630 (well over 200, 000 going by the current exchange rate).

Specifications of Google Pixel 2 XL

Now this is the big boy version of the Pixel 2. Equipped with 6″ display with a 1440 x 2880px (538ppi) resolution, always On Display and Circular Polarizer for better sunlight visibility.

A Corning Gorilla 5 (with curved edges) is the protective panel for the display. It also has a glass panel on the back, just like the iPhone X.

For running processes, it’s still a Snapdragon 835 processor combined with a 4GB of RAM. Google did blow up the storage a little, now 64GB is the base option but there’s a 128GB model for folks who need more space. The battery capacity practically remains the same 3,520mAh.

eSIM has been introduced in the Pixels and will used with Google Fi and other carriers. There’s still a standard nano-SIM slot if you want to stick to it. GSM and CDMA networks are supported.

For photography and videography, Pixel 2 XL comes with a single camera setup. Google added OIS to the 12MP rear camera to boost photo quality but the front sensor, remains the same as 8MP sensor and f/2.4 aperture. As stated earlier, the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL share the same camera spec. They also run the latest Android OS, the Android 8.0 Oreo.

Did I mention water resistance? I guess not. The Google Pixel 2 XL has been bumped up to IP67. So the device has better water resistance (it can stay under water for a longer period) and withstand exposure to dust.

Pixel 2 XL is coming in mid-November with a start price tag of $850 / €940 / £800 (well over 260k going by the current exchange rate). You get it in Just Black and Black & White colors.
