The LG G5 is officially announced (see full LG G5 specification)

After weeks of endless speculations on the probable specs of the LG G5, LG’s flagship phone for 2016. Leaks on this phone were a dime a dozen, so were image renders of the phones possible look.

Let me cut to the chase and give you all the LG G5 specification in a wowing order.

Magic Slot

First, the show stopper of this device is its magic slot. The magic slot is found at the bottom of the phone, it is revealed when the devices bottom cap is removed. The magic slot allows users to connect special modules/accessories to the LG G5. The G5’s removable cap also reveals the phones battery.

Fingerprint Scanner

If you are wondering how a fingerprint scanner comes second in the list, well this fingerprint scanner performs the function of finger print scanner for extra security, a power button and a volume button – G5’s sides are bare of any button.

Processor

The G5 comes with a Qualcomm’s SnapDragon 820, the latest processor from Qualcomm, which markedly faster and better than last years SnapDragon 810. According to LG, the 820 will provide graphics that are 40% faster and 40% more power efficient than the Snapdragon 810.

Camera

The LG G5 has a Main cam: Standard lens 16MP with OIS, wide-angle 8MP, one of which has a 78-degree angle lens, and the other a much-wider 135-degree angle, which LG says is 1.7 times the usual angle lenses supplied with most smartphones on the market today. The G5 has a and a 8MP front camera for selfie.

Body

The LG G5 comes with an all metal body given an advanced microdizing process to make the body more durable.

Memory

The LG G5 runs on 4GB of RAM, a 32GB internal memory that is expandable to 2TB, theoretically though. The memory card slot is found on the side along with the sim card slot.

Display

The G5 comes with a 5.3′ quad HD display, a 2 inch difference form last years G4 which debuted with a 5.5 inch display. The LG G5 will be quite portable to carry thanks to this reduction in screen size. In addition, the G5’s display comes with a3D Arc glass, which according to LG “creates a gentle curve”. Remember that the earlier announced always on display is still part of the G5’s display spec.

Battery

A 2800mah battery with quick charge 3.0 that can charge from 0% to 85% in 35 minutes. The device has a type-C USB.

LG G5 has a size measurement of 149.4 x 73.9 x 7.7mm. The device will be coming in Pink, Gold, Titan (Charcoal) and Silver colours. For connectivity the G5 comes with a Wifi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac and a Bluetooth 4.2, it also supports 4G network. The LG G5 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with LG UI, there has being a lot of improvement to the LG UI, if reports are anything to go by.

That’s it on the LG G5 specification, clearly LG has outdone themselves this time around and has certainly raised the ante for rival phone producers like Samsung who are launching their flagship the Galaxy S7 today. It will be interesting to see how these two phones will rival each other in specifications and pricing.

I am sure you will be wondering how much will this phone cost. It will definitely not going to be cheap, speculations pegs the phone to be around $700 or less, maybe more (over a 150,000 or more, it depends on the exchange rate). LG has not revealed the price tag of the phone as well as the date on which it will begin selling the device. However, we know that the company will begin their sales in major markets simultaneously. Therefore, it will take some time to see the device here in Nigeria, assuming we are not a major market.
